Alzheimer's DMV, Parkinson's DMV and Epilepsy DMV
If a law enforcement officer, physician, judge, family member, or acquaintance feels that a driver is no longer able to drive safely due to a condition such as Alzheimer's, DMV reports may be filed which will prompt the DMV to reexamine the individual's license. The DMV receives reports about both conditions that are static or unchanging and conditions that are progressive, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. DMV officials will follow up on reports on an individual basis to determine the nature of the driver's condition and his or her competency, alertness, seeing ability, judgment, agility, etc. If the DMV decides that the driver cannot drive in a safe and responsible manner, it may suspend or revoke the driver's license. However, the driver may then request a hearing with the DMV and seek legal representation for the hearing.
